Emergency Communications & GPS
As technology is consistently evolving, so do the capabilities in which rescue efforts conduct themselves. New technology is highly effective and can make a dire situation much more manageable and provide us with the confidence we need to survive. That being said, we can only reap the benefits of effective technology if we are ourselves are effective in its operation. This course will provide student with an in-depth overview of various emergency communications devices they may be exposed to while working in the field with their supporting elements. The devices we are recommending teaching are as follows: Personal Locator Beacons (PLB), Radios (Kenwood/Motorola/Harris), and the Iridium Satellite Phone. This course will expose students to the capabilities of each device and when each is applicable in a survival situation. By the end of this training, students will be able to effectively use their emergency communications equipment in order to communicate to a higher echelon for the purpose of extracting themselves or their teammates back to safety.
